BF 110 G-2 Vers1.1


The Bf110G-2 was the first aircraft of the G production line to see combat
service by December 1942, beside a few G-0 converted from existing F models.
This aircraft served in the role of the Schlachtflugzeug and Zerstoerer (ground
attack aircraft and bomber interceptor) at the Russian front, the Mediterranean
theater and in the so called "Reichsverteidigung". The standard armament
configuration consisted of 4 forward firing 7.9 mm Mg 17 machine guns, 2 forward
firing 20 mm Mg 151/20 cannons an a twin barrel 7.9 mm Mg 81 Z machine gun as
rearwards firing defense armament and the ability to carry various bomb loads,
external fuel and oil tanks on hard points under the fuselage and the wings

BF 110 G-2/R3 Vers1.1

The R3 carried two Mk108 cannons in the upper nose in place of the weak 4xMg17.
Serial Production started by September 1943 although similar pre-series aircraft
under the designation G-2/U9 had already been in production for a couple of
month. The production of the standard G-2 armed with 4 MG17 ended entirely when
the R3 production started.

BF 110 G-2/R4 Vers1.1

A Bf110 equipped with Flak was a long called for requirement of the RLM that
finally took shape with the G-2/R1. The R1 is a factory-build serial production
aircraft with a 37mm flak ( BK 37, development of the flak 18)in a large fixed
Belly under the fuselage. It entered service at the eastern front by March/April
1943 in the tank buster role, but was proofed to be unsuccessful. The surviving
aircraft where rebuild to R4 conditions (Mk108 cannon in upper nose, Bk37 under
fuselage) and transformed to ZG76 who served the aircraft in the destroyer role
against the allied day bomber campaign during the early month of 1944.

BF 110 G-2/U7 High Altitude Interceptor Vers1.1

The U7 carried no defense armament due
to the size and weight of the GM-1 tank. The second crew member remained on board to
operate the radios. Only 15 - 20 have been build during late 1943.
