Operation Pedestal and Mezzagosto 2.0 (http://files.netwings.org/files/wov/Operation_Pedestal_and_Mezzagosto_2.0/Operation_Pedestal_and_Mezzagosto_2.0.zip)
imageThis is my reworked version of the Operation Pedestal and Mezzagosto campaign pack found at the IS4G site, which is now closed. This dual-campaign set features 31 missions, 16 on the British side, and 15 on the Axis side.

This campaign took some major effort to rework, particularly the Axis side. All of the missions have been updated with new infrastructure, Achim's new GSL airbases, and the best aircraft available. In addition, all of the missions now have .dyn files, which enable warping.

Because of the amount of ships and aircraft involved, you will need a fairly fast PC to run these missions effectively. My rig has a little bit of trouble with this. You may notice reduced frame rates over land, and over the convoy. In most cases though, once you’re over the water, frame rates should be more than acceptable.

This was one of the projects I have wanted to work on for a long time, and I'm quite pleased with the results. For those who want the original mission files, I included those as well.

The reason for that is that my goal here was playability, occasionally at the expense of historical accuracy. However, the missions are certainly within the sphere of realism and probability, I assure you. Also, if you read the mission info, some of these raids were massive. Because of the amount of aircraft involved, I chose to “scale down” the missions a little bit. The aircraft types are still there, but I reduced the number of aircraft. This was done so that I could test them effectively, and because some of us just don’t have what could be called “modern” equipment.

New resources in /CFS2_Missions/CFS2_Campaigns

Gladiators and Canucks (http://files.netwings.org/files/cfs2_missions/campaigns/Gladiators_and_Canucks/Gladiators_and_Canucks.zip)
imageThis is my rework of the “Pattle” Gladiator campaign by Don Pyers. This campaign is one of my personal favorites, in part because you get to the magnificent Gladiators that Thicko built, and from the fact that once you get to Albania, the terrain you fly over because a part of the battle, and in many cases can help or hurt you, depending on your skills. Flying biplane against other biplanes is a very rare experience in CFS2 as well!!

This campaign is fought differently than most, you will find that in many cases the terrain dictates the battle. Some of these missions are airstarts, but you at least land on all of the missions. It would take a great deal of effort to rework those missions completely, so after much haggling and a few failed attempts, I decided to leave them. There is scattered flak throughout the mountains of Albania, so make sure to keep your eyes open for tracers, just in case.

Enjoy!

Malta Spitfire 2.0 (http://files.netwings.org/files/cfs2_missions/campaigns/Malta_Spitfire_2.0/Hellas_2.0.zip)
imageHello,

This is a 15-mission campaign centred around the experiences of a Spitfire pilot from the 249 squadron, based at Ta'Qali during the Spring and Summer of 1942.

All of the missions are historically plausible, and are based on events which happened at the time. This campaign requires several planes and scenery add-ons.

This campaign has been updated with newer aircraft, infrastructure, and the wonderful GSL blended-scenery airbases from both Achim and Brunosk, who has made a stunning representation of Malta!

Enjoy!

Hellas 2.0 (http://files.netwings.org/files/cfs2_missions/campaigns/Hellas_2.0/Hellas_2.0.zip)
imageThis campaign is a total of 27 missions, and chronicles the Luftwaffe’s successes of the Balkan and Greek campaigns during the spring of 1941. There is a school of thought that this campaign was one of the culprits that prevented the Luftwaffe from reaching Moscow before the Russian winter set in after their invasion.

This campaign was somewhat of a compromise in that I had to supply the British with American equipment, but I am satisfied with the German bases. With regards to the Polish airbase, I used Polish equipment as well as German, I felt it was more realistic, thinking the Germans might have used captured equipment.

Bardufoss Hurricanes 2.0 (http://files.netwings.org/files/cfs2_missions/campaigns/Bardufoss_Hurricanes_2.0/Bardufoss_Hurricanes_2.0.zip)
imageThis is the readme for my reworked and updated version of the Cliff Burgess “Bardufoss Hurricanes” mini-campaign found at the Groundcrew site. This campaign has been updated in the familiar style, with updated airbases, infrastructure, and aircraft. This is only a small sampling of the wonderful work going on in Norway; there are a couple of future projects that are also very close to completion. I hope you enjoy!

This mini-campaign explores the ill-fated British attempt to prevent the German conquest of Norway during May of 1940 by capturing and digging in at the coastal city of Narvik, trying to prevent Germany from marching further north. This campaign is also unique from a CFS2 perspective, because you take off in Hurricanes from the deck of the HMS Glorious when you fly into Norway, and you also land on the deck of the Glorious after your withdrawal from Norway, a challenging proposition considering you lack a tailhook!
